1, 247 NYSC Members Sworn-In In Enugu

No fewer than 1, 247 corps members were sworn-in on Tuesday as part of the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Enugu State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the administration of the oath of allegiance was performed by the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Ngozi Emehelu.

Emehelu, represented by the Chief Magistrate of Awgu Magisterial District, Mr Emannuel Ikechukwu, urged the corps members to be of good conduct.

In an address of welcome, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Sam Ujogu, said that the orientation had so far been carried out in strict compliance with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) safety protocol.

Ujogu said that the camp had not recorded any COVID-19 incidence since the commencement of the exercise.

He said that officials of Enugu State Ministry of Health and their Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) counterparts were handy to provide health services and orientation to the corps members.

He disclosed that the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, was appreciative of the assistance so far granted the scheme by the NCDC since the outbreak of COVID-19.

Ujogu said that the NCDC had consistently provided rapid diagnostic test kits and sensitisation materials for usage in all orientation camps nationwide.

He also said that the NYSC was not unmindful of the support by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 which had made all orientation courses safe and efficient.

“Our director-general also commends the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, as well as the TY Danjuma Foundation for the donation of tens of thousands of rapid test kits to the scheme,” Ujogu said. (NAN)
