No fewer than ten persons reportedly die and seven others sustained various degrees of injuries in a road traffic crash involving two vehicles along the Potiskum-Fika federal highway in Yobe State.
The accident involved a Sharon bus conveying passengers from Kano to Fika local government area of the State.
Assistant Corps Marshal Rotimi Adeleye, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zone 12 covering Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno states, confirmed the incident.

He said the incident happened as a result of overspeeding
Meanwhile, Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media to Governor Mai Mala Buni in a statement said that the governor mourned the victims of the accident, describing it as tragic and most unfortunate.
Governor Buni urged motorists to observe traffic laws, and avoid overspeeding as well as overloading.

“Motorists on night journeys and in the rains must drive with extra care for their personal safety, the safety of other road users and passengers”, the statement read in part.
He prayed to God to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and for the quick recovery of the injured while praying to Allah to grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
