About 10 Police personnel of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) providing security cover for Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed, sustained injuries on Monday when their vehicle somersaulted while attempting to overtake other vehicles on the governor’s motorcades.
The accident happened while Gov. Mohammed was on his third-day inspection tour at Burga-Yelwan Duguri, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The security vehicle, a Toyota Hilux conveying the police officers veered off the road around at about 1:30 p.m and somersaulted twice after losing control as a result of the huge dust that made visibility nearly impossible.

Although no life was lost, all the police personnel involved in the accident had been taken to the Bununu general hospital in Tafawa Balewa LGA for treatment.
The governor’s motorcades and top government officials on his entourage had already gone far when the incident happened.
Other vehicles, including one conveying journalists, commissioners of information, works, and transport stopped and participated in the rescue operation of the victims where the victims were taken to hospital.
