100 days: Zamfara govt. offers free medical services to fulani herders, livestock

Zamfara Government has offered free medical treatment to fulani herders and livestock in Maradun Local Government area of the state as part of activities to mark 100 days of Gov. Bello Matawalle in office.

News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the outreach was conducted on Wednesday, during the laying foundation ceremony of Ruga settlement project at Ranji Sakida grazing reserve in Maradun local government.

Alhaji Kabir Janyau, Chairman of the Medical Outreach Sub Committee, said that the outreach was aimed at improving the welfare of herders in the state in line with the government policy of maintaining peace in the state.

“We are expecting to reach out to thousands of fulani herders, including women and children.

“As you can see, we have deployed medical team comprising Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists for this assignment,” he said.

Janyau said that apart from human medical services for the fulani, the state government is also conducting free animal health services for livestock.

“We have provided veterinary medical experts to carry out the medical outreach for animals belonging to fulani herders, particularly the cows.

“As we are all aware, the present administration in the state is committed to ensuring that peace and stability is maintained in the state.

“I am using this opportunity to call on fulani herders and entire people of the state to continue to support the present administration to move the state forward,”he added.

NAN reports that the foundation laying for the Ruga settlement was performed by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
