1000 women to get empowerment from Bauchi NGO

A Bauchi based Non-Governmental Organization known as Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation has disclosed that it will empower 1000 rural women towards Peace building and Livelihood skills that can enable them be economically active and relevant in leadership and governance.

The NGO which stated this at the commencement of its Five Year Empowerment project in the State on Wednesday said that the gesture was part of its efforts aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of Women and Girls in Nigeria.

Speaking in Udubo community of Gamawa Local Government Area of the State, the executive director of the foundation, Mrs. Comfort Attah said that the five year project is focusing on empowering 1000 women.

“The intervention would also focus on exposing 200 women and girls each year in Dambam and Gamawa LGAs of Bauchi State. In the five years period, a total of 1000 women will be targeted to create opportunities through the Village Savings and Loans Activity (VSLA) in order to make them active and relevant in leadership and governance”, she explained.

The Executive Director also disclosed that the project, with funding from ActionAid Nigeria through its Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project is being implemented by ASHH Foundation, which is fully supported by Global Affairs Canada.

Sarkin  Udubo, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Malami who spoke on behalf of the community expressed gratitude to the NGO for considering their communities and pledged total support in the implementation of project.
