At least 104 people were reportedly killed in the latest bandits’ attack on four communities of Kanam local government area of Plateau State.
Unknown gunmen have rained bullets on Kukawa, Gyambawa, Karam and Dungur communities of Kanam Sunday morning. The attackers set several houses ablaze and went away with cattle.
Residents of the communities decried delayed mobilisation of security operatives to the communities, something that allow their attackers operated for hours without let.
Although Plateau authorities remain muted on the details of the attack, a traditional ruler in the area told BBC Hausa that 54 persons were killed in Kukawa village, 16 vigilante operatives were killed in Shuwaka community just as 34 others were killed in Gyambau.
He said that children and youths were also part of the people that were killed in the attack.
The traditional leaders said that this is the worst attack in the history of the communities.
However, authorities in Jos said additional security operatives have been mobilised o the affected communities.
