13 killed in reprisal attack in Mangu, Plateau state

At least 13 people were reported killed in Kulben Village, Kombun District in Mangu local government area council of Plateau State in reprisal attack following the killing of herdsman and his son by suspected farmers who alleged that the herder has vandalized their farm.

Sources told WikkiTimes that the reprisal attack by the suspected gunmen on Wednesday night was said to have took place when members of the community were asleep in their various homes.

Member, representing Mangu South Constituency in the state House Assembly, Bala Fwangje, who confirmed the development to newsmen, described the reprisal as “barbaric and unacceptable”.

The development has caused tension in neighboring communities as many Fulani nomadic pastoralists were seen evacuating their animals in fear of further attacks.

Mr. Fwangje called for calm as security agencies and stakeholders were putting heads together to fish out those behind the act.

According to him, most of the victims that lost their lives are youths, while four others are receiving treatment in the hospital.

Plateau state governor Simon Lalong has condemned the killing of innocent persons, describing it as an attempt to puncture the peace that has gradually returned to the state.
