2.4 Million Nigerians Complete Voter Registration – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released new figures showing that 2,449,475 Nigerians have completed their voter registration under the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The data, published on Wednesday, includes 1,425,898 people who finalised their online pre-registration and 1,023,577 who completed their physical biometric capture at registration centres nationwide.

According to the commission, Osun State recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 193,026 voters, followed by Imo with 144,209 and Kano with 142,433. Sokoto registered 132,584, while Lagos recorded 115,334. Borno followed with 112,226 and the Federal Capital Territory with 106,855 completed registrations.

Kogi registered 97,012 voters, ahead of Jigawa’s 95,543 and Zamfara’s 90,739. Katsina recorded 87,661, while Kaduna had 82,421.

Delta posted 79,495 completed registrations, followed by Kebbi with 77,721, Ogun with 77,014 and Niger with 73,745. Rivers recorded 63,621, while Oyo and Akwa Ibom reported similar figures of 68,559 and 68,464 respectively.

Adamawa completed 52,381 registrations, ahead of Kwara’s 50,221 and Yobe’s 49,766. Benue registered 46,802, Bayelsa 41,856 and Bauchi 37,749.

Ekiti recorded 33,393 completed registrations, Gombe 32,890, and Nasarawa 31,862. Ebonyi followed with 29,102, while Edo recorded 27,602. Plateau registered 25,301, while Taraba and Enugu posted 18,731 and 17,234, respectively. Ondo recorded 16,709, Cross River 15,339 and Abia 13,875.

INEC maintained that registration remains suspended in Anambra State in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act, following the recently concluded governorship election.

The current phase of CVR, which began on 18 August 2025, is expected to continue until August 2026.

INEC noted that while South-West states, particularly Osun and Lagos, have consistently led in registration turnout, recent mobilisation by community groups and local leaders has driven increased participation across several northern states.

The commission urged eligible citizens who have yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.
