Banyana Banyana vice-captain Jane Refiloe will miss Saturday’s final match of the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 2018 AWCON final match between Nigeria and South Africa would hold at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana.

A tweet on South Africa’s official handle on Thursday said Refiloe who played all the matches at the tournament left for Australia to return to her new club Canberra United.

It quoted Refiloe as saying she was sad to miss the final match as she believes Banyana Banyana are closer than ever to lifting their first trophy in the  competition.

“But due to club commitments I had to make the difficult choice of leaving before the final,” Refiloe had said.

NAN reports that the Australian league has been ongoing, even during the tournament in Africa.

South Africa’s qualification for the final match had meant they clinched their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification.
