Audu Ejo, Head Coach of Super Sand Eagles, on Monday said that camp for the team would open next week ahead of the All African Beach Soccer championship in Cape Verde.
Ejo made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He noted that the championship, expected to begin on June 14, would be in preparation for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Ejo noted that by next week, they will release the list of players who have been approved so they can prepare for camp.
“Shortly after the release of names, players will be called to camp for preparation; it is our first attempt at participating in Olympics.
“Our plan is to ensure that we qualify first; we intend to take each match as it comes,’’ the coach said.
The team’s Captain, Victor Tale, also told NAN,” The players know a lot is at stake; they will do the needful to ensure the team qualifies.
“We want to be remembered as the first team to qualify for Olympics, we can only achieve this with good planning and focus.
He said they presume that morale will be high once the team hit the Badagry Camp, adding that it was a big deal that should not be messed up.
