2023: ‘It Is A Sin For Christians To Waste Votes’ On Muslim-Muslim Ticket – Dogara

Yakubu Dogara, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has warned Nigerian Christians to invest their votes in the 2023 presidential election in a party that embodied the diversity of the nation and its people.

He said any Christian who thought of voting in favour of the archaic Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, the party to which he defected about two years ago, is tantamount to committing a sin and vote waste.

“It is a sin for Christians to waste their votes in 2023,” the former Speaker said in a subtle antagonistic campaign against the popularity of APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima -all Muslims – among Nigerian Christians ahead of the February presidential election in the country.

Dogara said this on Tuesday in Abuja while making a presentation at an event organised by the Nigerian National Christians Coalition.

WikkiTimes learned that Dogara’s sustained tenous campaigns to dent the popularity and acceptance of APC presidential flagbearer is not too from his failure to clinch the running mate ticket of the party.

Dogara had in a meeting with CAN Chairmen from northern states kicked against the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC.

“Every Christian knows that our God does not tolerate waste. It is unchristian for the church to waste anything from above as we own nothing except what is given to us from above,” The former Speaker said.

He maintained that the APC failed to heed the warnings CAN and Christian groups leased out to it highlighting the unsuitability of flying a same-faith presidential ticket after Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the winner of the APC presidential primary elections.

Dogara said Nigeria is not ready for a Muslim-Muslim ticket because the country has not attended nationhood yet. “the APC adopted the same faith ticket in a country that has never attained nationhood,” he insisted.

I have gone to great lengths to demonstrate that the church must not waste its votes or sow same on unproductive grounds.

“Every Christian must see his vote as talents God gave him to trade with and as seeds that must not be wasted.

“We do not even have the liberty to preserve our vote just like the wicked and lazy servant did to his talent, we must cast the vote in a fertile ground i.e, the platform we know can win the election and nothing less or else.

“After all, is it in vain that it is said that Waste is worse than loss?” he asked.

WikkiTimes recalls that after the emergence of Bola Tinubu as APC’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, Dogara and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr Babachir Lawal intensified their campaign to get selected as running mate to Tinubu on the premise that they are Christian from the northern part of the country.
