2023: Southern Presidency Gets Momentum As Bauchi Statesman Backs Zoning Formula

An elder statesman also a traditional ruler in Bauchi, Alhaji Sunusi Baban Takko has said that zoning the Presidency to the southern part of the country remains a solution to political instability and disunity among Nigerians, hence the need for all political parties to produce Presidential candidates from the south.

He therefore, charged Political Actors in Northern Nigeria to always consider national unity rather than their personal interest, for sustained democratic governance.

Alhaji Sunusi Baban Takko made the plea while commenting on the state of the nation ahead of the 2023 general election.

The statesman said the zoning formula amongst the political parties is essential toward addressing some of the major challenges bedeviling the nation, in terms of national unity, peaceful coexistence and national stability.

Baban Takko however declined to comment on the right candidate for the presidential race, hence calling on electorates to vote only candidates with a high level of sportsmanship and proven integrity irrespective of party and religious affiliation.

He used the forum to advise the Bauchi State government to prioritize boosting the economy through agribusiness, reviving the moribund industries, providing a conducive atmosphere for small and medium enterprises to thrive in the state.
