243 ATBU Students Inducted into Teachers Council of Nigeria

The acting Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi Prof. Mohammed Kunya has disclosed that a total of 243 final-year students from the Faculty of Technology Education have been inducted into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Speaking at the induction ceremony held at the Yelwa Campus of ATBU, Prof. Kunya urged the TRCN to collaborate with relevant agencies, including security operatives, to identify and eliminate fraudulent institutions and unregistered teachers, especially in some private institutions.

According to him, doing so would improve the quality of education and ensure effective knowledge transmission to future generations.

Prof. Kunya commended the TRCN for its steadfast efforts in maintaining teaching standards over the years.

He further called on the government to support the council in carrying out its responsibilities to secure the nation’s future through quality education.

In his address, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Hassan Bello, emphasized that teaching is not merely a job but a calling that demands passion, patience, and dedication.

He praised the TRCN for its crucial role in maintaining the quality and standards of teacher education in Nigeria.

Represented by the Deputy Dean, Prof. Adamu Jibrin, Bello encouraged the inductees to embrace the opportunities ahead of them as they enter the teaching profession.

In her remarks, the Acting Registrar of TRCN, Dr. Stella-Maria Nwokocha, stated that the council is committed to restoring the lost glory of education in Nigeria.

Represented by Dr. Dipo Okunlola, a TRCN member from Abuja, she noted that the TRCN is working to reposition teaching and learning in the country.

Nwokocha further revealed that the inductees performed excellently in their professional qualification examinations and that this is the first time such a large number of students have been inducted into the TRCN in the history of Bauchi State.
