The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of three persons while 14 others were injured in a fatal crash between J5 bus and Dangote trailer in Kwanar Mangawarori along old Gwaram road.
The J5 bus conveying 17 passengers from Sara market to Laya village hit an empty Dangote trailer coming from old Gwaram to Kano. The trailer driver fled the scene leaving the trailer behind.
Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police Public Relations Officer, in the state confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse.
According to him, efforts are ongoing to arrest the trailer driver identified as Musbahu Yakubu of Buruku village of Chikun LGA, Kaduna State who is now at large.
“On reaching Kwanar Mangwarori along old Gwaram road, the driver hit an empty Dangote trailer with reg no. BNK 447 XA driven by one Musbahu Yakubu ‘m’ age 30yrs of Buruku village, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state now at large”, said Adam.
The spokesman added that five passengers have been treated and discharged at Gwaram General Hospital while the remaining injured are admitted and responding to treatment. “Three (3) of the victims died while receiving treatment. Namely, 1. Idris Nuhu ‘m’ age 30yrs, 2. Khadija Kabiru ‘f’ age 6yrs, 3. Shamsuddeen Ibrahim ‘m’ age 29yrs all of Laya village, Gwaram LGA”, he said.
Recall that on Tuesday at least 10 persons were confirmed dead while one person sustained severe injury as a result of collision between a speedy Hummer Bus and a parked trailer in Yanfari village of Taura LGA of Jigawa state.
The passenger bus, conveying 11 people heading to Hadejia from Kano somersaulted after it rammed into a parked trailer, along the busy Kano-Hadejia road, leading to the death of ten persons on the spot.
