At least 30 commuters have been massacred along Rukuba area in Jos, the Plateau State capital according to a BBC Hausa Service report.
The victims are Muslim travelers on their way to the Southern part of the country from Bauchi State for Islamic New Year celebrations.
Restive Rukuba youths blocked vehicles and covered them with slashes as they passed through the area.
Plateau State Police Command in a statement confirmed the killing of 22 people in the attack.
However, a Journalist who visited the Plateau Specialist Hospital told BBC that he had seen the bodies of 30 people while others were being treated.
The cause of the class has not been established but it came days after a clash between Fulani herdsmen and Iregwe farmers.
Governor Simon Lalong condemned the attack and warned perpetrators of the dastard act to refrain from doing so “because the government will not condone violence.”
