Students of Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) kidnapped last night were “rescued” by combined forces, according to Yahaya Ibrahim, Force Information Officer, Operation Hadarin Daji.
The were abducted by terrorists at the wee hours on yesterday from their off-campus residence at Sabon Gida under Damba area of Gusau LGA in the state, reports Solacebase.
They were rescued by a joint team of police and soldiers under operation Hadarin Daji.
‘’This was achieved as the troops responded swiftly to a distress call on the kidnapped students by terrorists,” Ibrahim stated.

He added: “Troops immediately mobilized and formed blocking position at a possible withdrawal route which led to a heavy gun duel with the terrorists. Troops superiority forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and fled.
‘’During the encounter with the terrorists around 12 am, 2 of the students were able to escape while 2 other students a male and female were safely rescued by the troops.”
This is the second time terrorists would abduct students of the school from their off-campus dormitories.
Terrorists have capitalized upon school abductions since they kidnapped Chibok girls in 2014.
Last week, terrorists invaded Nasarawa State University, Keffi and abducted four students.
A few days before, four female students of the Federal University Dutsin Ma, Katsina State were abducted by terrorists.
