Umar Sule, a 50-year-old resident of Kariya in Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi State, has allegedly raped his 17-year-old daughter several times and impregnated her.
Mr Sule took advantage of his daughter while her mother traveled to Burra in Ningi LGA to see her parents.
A medical examination has confirmed that the victim is 3 months pregnant, and her biological father is responsible.
Confirming the incident to reporters on Friday morning, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Bauchi Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said thatboth the suspect and the victim are in police custody for questioning.
He said the duo confessed to the crime. “Thereafter, on the return of her mother, she observed the victim was pregnant and questioned her who was responsible for that. The victim disclosed that it was her biological father.”
Wakil said the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that the case be charged to court after the investigation is completed.
