At least 58 Nigerians have been killed in separate attacks across Plateau, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States in a few days, WikkiTimes can report.
Bandits and other armed groups have reportedly kidnapped 62 others across the states of the northwest and central regions of the country.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that 52 people have been killed and about 2000 others were displaced in Bokkos local government area of Plateau State.
Survivors accused security forces of arriving hours after the assault, allowing attackers—suspected militia herdsmen—to operate unchecked.
Zamfara: Bandits Slaughter 2, Abduct 60 in Revenge Raids
WikkiTimes learnt that in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara, bandits loyal to slain warlord Kachalla Yellow aka Dan Isuhu raided Gidan Arne, Yan Doton Daji, and Unguwan Chida villages, killing 2 and abducting 60 residents, including 40 women. “They burned homes and demanded vengeance for Yellow’s death,” a Tsafe community leader said.
Yellow, nephew of notorious kingpin Adamu Aliero, was killed two weeks ago during a failed ambush on Zamfara’s Community Protection Guards. His death triggered a spiral of retaliatory attacks, with bandits torching 11 vehicles and looting shops in Keta village.
Sokoto: Lakurawa Group Kills 3 in Fishing Village Ambush
In Tangaza LGA, Sokoto, suspected Lakurawa terrorists on motorcycles ambushed Sanyinna village, slaughtering 2 fishermen and 1 farmer identified as Zubairu Kusugu, Aminu Ibrahim, and Salisu Dangwati. The attackers stole livestock and fled into nearby forests, mirroring assaults in Sutti and Takkau villages days earlier.
“We are pursuing them,” Sokoto police spokesperson DSP Ahmed Rufai vowed, though locals criticized delayed interventions.
Kebbi: Student Abducted, Herder Shot Dead in Hostel Invasion
Gunmen stormed the Istijaba Villa hostel near Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), abducting 23-year-old student Augustine Madubiya and killing herder Malam Siddi Hussaini, who attempted to rescue the victims.
Reacting to the incident, Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, said Governor Nasir Idris had directed the Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, to collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted student.
