9 Arrested For Gang-Raping, Killing Teenage Girl In Bauchi

Police in Bauchi State have apprehended nine individuals for a suspected involvement in the gang-rape, impregnation and death of an 18-year-old girl in Fawari, Misau Local Government Area.

According to police, the primary suspects are identified as Dallas Ayuba, 21 and Usman Umar, 22. Police investigators alleged that these two individuals repeatedly engaged in non-consensual sexual intercourse with the victim on multiple occasions.

Upon discovering the victim’s pregnancy resulting from these assaults, Ayuba and Umar allegedly paid Abubakar Muhammad, 35-year-old student at A.D. Rufai College of Legal and Islamic Studies, N40,000 to administer an abortifacient injection to the girl.

Following the injection, the victim collapsed and lost consciousness. She was initially admitted to General Hospital Misau but was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre Azare, where she was pronounced dead.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, stated that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the allaged rape and identified additional accomplices.

The arrested accomplices include Alkali Kawu, Maule Mai Ride, Mai Tomatoes, Danguli, Yakubu, and Kura. CSP Wakil indicated that these individuals are currently under investigation at the Misau Divisional Police Headquarters.

CSP Wakil affirmed the Bauchi Police Command’s unwavering commitment to its duty of ensuring that justice is served in this case. He further stated that the investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be profiled and charged in court based on the established offenses.

This incident follows the arrest of Fatima Ibrahim, two days ago, who is accused of raping a 12-year-old boy employed to assist her in her business selling danwake, a local dish popular in northern Nigeria.
