Idris Magami, radio journalist working with the Zamfara State Radio Corporation has regained his freedom seven days after he was abducted by terrorists in the state.
Mr Magami is the producer of a popular Hausa programme Su Duniya Manya, which literally means ‘The World is Full of Surprises’. He produces the programme on a weekly basis for Zamfara Radio.

He was abducted seven days ago on his way home after closing from work.
It is not yet clear whether or not he was released after the payment of a ransom to the terrorists.
“There was never a time I was maltreated but I have been seeing many abductees being subjected to all sorts of maltreatment.
“They used to give me food and also allowed me to observe my five daily prayers, a privilege denied to many of those they have abducted,” he said while recollecting his ordeal in the deen of the terrorists.

Zamfara is amongst many other northwest states in Nigeria that has been ravaged by insecurity. Recently bandits killing at least 35 people including a village head after they raided five communities in Anka local government area of Zamfara State. Also, in January reports have it that bandits burnt down five villages in zamfara, killed over 200 residents and mutilated their bodies.

A Media index ranking shows that out of the 5067 death toll recorded in Nigeria in 2021 as a result of insecurity, Zamfara State had the highest death toll with 703 deaths making it the flashpoint of insecurity in the northwestern part of the country.
