Accountability: NUJ Holds Debate For Bauchi Guber Candidates

As part of its drive to entrench transparency and good governance, The Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has completed arrangements to hold a debate for candidates jostling for the governorship seat of the state.  

WikkiTimes gathered that the debate, which is the first of its kind, is slated to take place on Wednesday 25th January 2023. Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of PDP, Sadique Baba Abubakar of APC and Halliru Dauda Jika of NNPP are expected to respond to questions bordering on their plans to catapult the socio-economic and political lives of citizens of Bauchi State.

Comrade Dahiru Garba Mohammed, Chairman of the Elections Debate Organising Committee said this at the Press Centre of the NUJ in Bauchi.

He said the debate was organised by NUJ with the support of the Nigerian Bar Association, Musical and Health Workers Union, Society for Peace Studies and Practice as well as Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

He said two major languages – English Language and Hausa will be used for communication purposes during the debate.

The Chairman said all media in the state will air the programme life while only one hundred people including, journalists, civil society organizations as well as supporters agreed to be present at the venue. 

The Bauchi state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Umar Sa’idu rallies for support from media organisations to make the event a successful one.

While calling on the Bauchi state government to fulfil its promise of upgrading the NUJ secretariat, Dahiru also emphasised the need to construct Acces roads for Albarka Radio, Globe Fm and NTA Bauchi.
