Accused of Witchcarft, Hunters Kill Mother, Son In Adamawa

Hassan Solomon and Uleri Shaba, both local hunters and residents of Madagali in Adamawa State, confessed they were responsible for the gruesome murder of a woman, Uzarai Musa and her son, Kladang, over witchcraft allegation, police authority says.

The suspects claimed the deceased had killed two of their relatives and were responsible for other mysterious deaths in their community. According to them, they killed the “evil people” in order to rid the community of them.

Late Uzarai was shot in the stomach and her son, in the neck — at their home, last Sunday afternoon. 

The duo were killed mindlessly and it was part of jungle justice cases in which people accused of practicing witchcraft were executed in Adamawa.

Last week, WikkiTimes reported how the untimely death of children in Dumna village, Guyuk local government area of the state was blamed on 57-year-old Benson Timothy.

It did not end there, Timothy was killed by a group of four men who accused him of witchcraft.

A day later — also in Adamawa — one Hafsat Sa’idu aided by her children allegedly killed Mamman Sa’idu, her 60-year-old husband.

Ahmed Gombi, the head of  Crack Squad, Adamawa Police Command, told newsmen in Yola, the capital of the state that the suspects are being held n custody as investigation continues.
