The people of Gobirawa in Yola South of Adamawa State have today offered two special prayers seeking for God’s intervention over hunger and drought affecting the community.
Muhammadu Yakubu, the Chief Imam of the Juma’at mosque in the area who led the two raka’at prayers, called on the people to repent and seek for Allah’s intervention into happenings in the area and the country at large.
Malam Yakubu who said drought and hunger are tests from Almighty Allah, enjoined locals to be honest, just and fair in all their dealings, saying that they will all be accountable for their deeds and actions.
The religious leader cautioned traders against hoarding commodities for the sake of gaining high profits, saying that if everyone is just and fair, Allah will come to their aid.
He reminded everyone to be God fearing in all their undertakings, noting that with total submission to the Almighty Allah, the hardship and suffering will be a thing of the past.
Rabiu Usman, a journalist based in the area told WikkiTimes that the special prayers were conducted following prolonged days of lack of rainfall amid hunger and suffering.
According to him, farmlands have been drying, a situation that forced the residents to seek for divine intervention.
WikkiTimes learnt that many parts of Adamawa, Taraba and Plateau states are currently facing challenge of drought that some farms are beginning to turn brownish.
