Adamawa Gets First Female Chief Jugde, Hafsat Abdulrahaman

The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.

Also, Ibrahim Wakili Sudi was confirmed as Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, and Audu James Balami as President of the Customary Court of Appeal.

Their confirmation came after a letter forwarded by Governor Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri which was read aloud by the assembly’s Speaker, Aminu Iya Abbas, during the sitting.

The governor had in September 2022, sworn in Hafsat as acting Chief Judge of Adamawa State, and later sent a letter to the house requesting her confirmation as the substantive Chief Judge.

The house thanked the governor for submitting the names of the top judicial officers for confirmation.

The speaker, who presided over the meeting, subsequently directed the clerk to communicate the house’s resolution to the governor for further action.
