Adamu Adamu’s Candidate, ‘PDP Surrogate, Not Our Choice’—Bauchi APC Stakeholders

A Bauchi forum housing APC stakeholders from Bauchi Central zone has unilaterally rejected in “strong terms the sentiment driving Adamu Adamu’s imposition of Babayo Alim as State Party Chairman.”

Hassan Mohammed Sharif, a Chieftain of the APC in Bauchi and one of the leaders of the forum stated this on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Bauchi.

Mr Sherif accused Adamu Adamu, the current minister of education of imposing a People’s Democratic Party surrogate as APC Chairman.

He said that “a look at Adamu Adamu’s close friends is enough to convince every right-thinking person about Adamu’s romance with the PDP.

“Curiously, Adamu Adamu’s younger brother Umar Adamu was up until four months ago, Commissioner of Finance in Gov Bala’s led PDP cabinet in Bauchi. “Some PDP bigwigs and heavyweights continue to remain Minister Adamu Adamu’s close confidants, including former Bauchi Governor Isa Yuguda who recently joined the APC and has managed to slot in his political adviser Abdulmumini Kundak as a State Zonal Vice Chairman, Kaulaha Aliyu- a former PDP Board of Trustees member, and Musa Babayo Talba- a former PDP National Secretary,” he said.

According to Sharif, the “imposed candidate” attended only one out of the five meetings held in the run-up to the congress.

He said that the entire process is not only an anti-party agenda but seems to be a process fulfilling PDP’s agenda.

“These are still the same factors that led to the failure of the party in 2019. APC Stakeholders all over the country should not allow this travesty to stand as it will amount to rubbishing the great effort put into building the party in Bauchi State”, he insisted.

Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, Bauchi State PDP Publicity Secretary in his reaction said “a blinded opposition party can say anything out of some venomous self-defeatism for not being in power.”

He said that the PDP in Bauchi State neither sent nor supported any of those “elected or imposed leaders of the APC in the state to accomplish a clandestine mission for it.”

“If you look at those within the political landscape of Nigeria, most of them were members of the PDP at a point in time except President Buhari. “Politicians cross carpet from one party to another to achieve their political ambition,” Zainabari said.
