The 2023 PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has appointed a former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara as a member of his campaign council.
Dogara’s appointment, who is a member of APC, came after a sustained open campaign against the Muslim-Muslim ticket. However, the former Speaker has not officially dumped APC.
The Director-General 2023 PDP Presidential Council who is also Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said this in a statement.
He said the appointment of Dogara takes immediate effect.
“The leadership of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council wishes to formally announce that Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Campaign Council with immediate effect.
“This is part of our continuous effect in joining hands with our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to recover our great country, Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
After his appointment, Doagar is yet to officially dump APC after defecting to the party nearly two years ago.
A court ruling has ordered the former Speaker, who represents Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency, to vacate office a few months after quitting PDP, the party under which he was elected to the Lower Chamber in 2019.
