Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State has returned to reclaim his guber ticket after losing at the just concluded People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election where he polled 20 votes.
WikkiTimes had earlier reported that governor Bala had beseeched Ibrahim Kashim, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bauchi State to help him secure the guber ticket while he pursues his presidential ambition. If he fails — as he had envisioned — he would return to claim the ticket from Kassim.
Kashim would later resign as an SSG to contest for Bauchi State governor under PDP. Though he was the sole aspirant of the party who was declared winner in the guber primary election chaired Hassan Grema, the returning officer at the primary.
According to the result announced by Grema, Kashim polled 655 votes out of 656 where one vote was declared invalid.
During the election, a drama surfaced when the name and picture of the incumbent governor who was eyeing presidency appeared on the ballot paper. But it was pronounced a mindless mistake from the national body of PDP.
“No, he (Mohammed) did not buy the form,” said Hamza Koshe Akuyam, the state PDP Chaairman. “It was a printing error that his name appeared on the ballot.”
In the coming election, governor Bala would battle Sadique Abubakar, the former Chief of Air Staff, who emerged the candidate of the state All Progressives Congress (APC).
