Monday Ishaku, a Bauchi-based herbalist in Anguwan Ruga village of Tafawa Balewa local council has allegedly raped a woman after promising to cure her witchcraft.
The herbalist, according to Bauchi Police Command, intoxicated the woman before forcing himself on her.
The victim, Rejoice Yalda, a resident of Nahuta of the local council alongside her husband, Yalda Istifanus, took their sick daughter to the herbalist for treatment.

Surprisingly, the suspect said that the victim was responsible for her daughter’s sickness. He claimed that Rejoice belonged to a secret club.
He, however, promised that he would treat both the daughter and her mother over the night.
The spokesman for Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement disclosed that the incident took place on September 5, 2022.

“On 05/09/2022, he (the victim’s husband) decided to take her (sick daughter) to the said Monday Ishaku who told the husband that his wife Rejoice Yalda is responsible for their daughter’s sickness because she belongs to a secret society and promised to treat both the mother and the daughter in the night,” Wakil’s statement partly read.
In close, the command cautioned parents to be wary of whom they take their wards to for any form of healing. It also advised that parents should not be desperate in seeking remedies for their sick ones.
