ALERT: 13 Northern States Risk Flooding in Four Days Time

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced that 50 areas in 13 northern states would be affected by floods in the next four days.

Ibrahim Farinloye, coordinator of the agency, who disclosed this in Lagos said the flood is expected to occur from Wednesday, 13 to Sunday, September 17.

According to the coordinator, in Kano State, floods are expected in Sumaila and Kunchi areas while Argungun LGA was predicted in Kebbi.

In Katsina, floods are expected in Bindawa, Jibiya, Kaita areas including Katsina metropolis.

According to the prediction, Kontangora, Mashegu and New Bussa local councils risk flooding. But only one local council —Berutem — in neighboring Kwara State will be affected.

In Bauchi, the agency mentioned Darazo, Kirfi, Azare, Jama’are, Itas and Misau

“In Zamfara, there are areas of Kauran Namoda and Shinkafi; then Bauchi with the areas of Bajoga, Darazo, Kirfi, Azare, Jama’are, Itas, Misau; Taraba has the areas of Bali, Donga, Lau, Serti, Mutum-Biyu, Yorro, while in Borno there are the areas of Briyel, Biu, Dikwa, Kukawa,” he said.

He also added that in Adamawa, the areas that are expected to be flooded are Ganye, Mubi, Demsa, Jimeta, Mayo Belwa, Numan, Shelleng, and Song adding that, in Yobe, Dapchi, Gashua, Geidam, Kanamma, Machina and Potiskum areas are also under the flood threat.

In Gombe, NEMA revealed, there could be floods in Nafada, while in Jigawa, Dutse, Gumel, Gwaram and Miga areas adding as a result of the increase in water in Kwara and Benue Rivers, the residents of the neighboring areas and even along Bayelsa state are advised to take precautionary measures.
