Anniversary: Kwara artisans appeal to Gov. AbdulRasaq for revolving loan

As Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara begins second year in office, artisans in the state have called on him to grant them loans to enable them to engage in meaningful business activities.

Mr Joseph Olu-Akintayo, the President of Professional Artisans in the state, made the call in llorin on Saturday while speaking with the News Agency’ of Nigeria NAN on the the governor’s first year in office.

According to him AbdulRasaq’s administration should empower the people to minimise the “alarming rate of poverty” in the state.

He said many residents of the state, including artisans, lacked basic capital to carry out their business activities to cater for their families.

“The governor should assist artisans in the state with a revolving loan to get back to business after the coronal virus pandemic.

“We want the governor to focus more on empowerment. After COVID-19, people will be so much impoverished. It is high time he empowered the people,” he said.

He recalled that the state government had earlier promised to grant a revolving loan to them, and appealed that it be done now that their little capitals had dwindled due to COVID-19 lockdown.

The president of the artisans however commended Gov. AbdulRasaq for his remarkable achievement in infrastructure development a cross the state within one year in office. (NAN)
