Another Chibok School Girl Escapes From Boko Haram

Governor Babagan Umara Zulum of Borno State has received Ruth Ngladar Pogu, one of the girls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok Secondary School in 2014, BBC Hausa Service reports on Sunday.

Governor Zulum received Ruth after she surrendered to the Nigerian military along with a man whom she said was her husband. They had married during their detention.

A statement from the Borno state government on Saturday evening said Ruth and her husband had surrendered to the army on July 28.

Welcoming Ruth, her mother and son at the State House, Governor Zulum urged other parents of Chibok High School students to continue to look forward to seeing their children.

On the night of April 14, 2014, Boko Haram militants stormed Government Secondary School, Chibok and abducted more than 200 girls.

In January this year, a father told BBC that his daughter and other non-Chibok girls had escaped from Boko Haram. He said he thought they had escaped because of the military’s attacks on the militants.
