APC still strong in Bauchi despite losing elections—Uba Nana

Bauchi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Uba Nana has asserted that despite losing the 2019 governorship election in the state, the party is still strong and formidable.

He made the assertion on Friday when the minister of science and technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu paid a visit to the party members at its state Secretariat during his official visit to Bauchi State.

According to Nana, the party had won all the three senatorial seats, nine out of the 12 house of representatives seats and 21 out of 31 State assembly seats during the last polls.

Nana further told the minister that the current speaker of the Bauchi State house of assembly and majority leader of the house are all members of the party.

This he pointed out, is an indication that the party is still strong and popular in the state saying they filed an appeal at court of appeal against the recent verdict delivered by the governorship election petition tribunal in the state with a view to reclaiming their ‘stolen mandate’.

But WikkiTimes special reports had unveiled that the APC secretariat which was a busy place regardless of the time of the day or night particularly in the build up to the 2019 general election has now become a ghost of former self.

The report documented that the party Secretariat in Bauchi is now deserted—left with only a guard man to secure its premises.

Uba Nana had not responded to WikkiTimes’ request to comment on the subject.

In his address, the minister of science and technology Dr Ogbonnaya Onu explained that he was on official visit to the state to commission a multi million naira laboratory at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) but deemed it proper to also visit the party Secretariat.

He advised all APC stalwarts in the state to remain united and committed, saying it has hope of winning the next governorship election even if it does not triumph at the court of appeal. The minister appreciated the state electorates for massively voting President Muhammadu Buhari in the last election assuring that the administration will not fail Nigerians
