British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), an international multimedia platform is currently recruiting to fill some of its vacant positions.
The positions advertised by the Britain-based medium are for its Pidgin Service. It needs a senior journalist and video journalist who are expected to work from Lagos.

“We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Journalist to work across the Pidgin Service digital output – specifically the website and social media platforms,” the broadcasting platform announced.
The video journalist for the BBC Pidgin Service should be creative and experienced one with an excellent understanding of what makes brilliant digital journalism, it specified.

The ideal applicant is also expected to work across all digital platforms — video, audio and text — to ensure that the pidgin service output grows a distinctive character and status in its target area. “You will be required occasionally to do some field reporting,” it added.
The medium noted that successful applicants would take full editorial responsibility for timely delivery of daily output and also lead on production, creative and timely distribution of all digital content —videos, and innovative editorial projects to serve the Pidgin audiences in accordance with BBC’s editorial guidelines and objectives.

Both journalists who must possess fluency and up-to-date knowledge of Pidgin and the ability to type quickly and accurately will also be responsible for coming up with creative and innovative ways of developing, pitching and telling stories.
Other requirements include “fluency in English, written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively. Ability to mentor, lead and inspire journalists to bring out the best in them”.
