Bauchi State in 2007, youths were not much visible into politics andgovernance. They mostly concentrate on searching for knowledge, businesses, artisanship and things of that nature.

Malam Isa Yuguda’s administration brought many youth intogovernance and politics through appointments, contracts and enrichments.

Since then, priority and attention of many youth in Bauchiturned to politics and struggle to get connections and appointments. Many youngpeople in Bauchi become so hasty to get noticed and connected to power forquick wealth. We abandoned the paths of natural growth and prosperity and lurkaround politicians for short cuts and favours.

But certainly, the appointment of Malam NuruddeenAbdulhameed as Commissioner should teach us (youth) a lesson.

You don’t need to be desperate, dubious or even engaging inhatchet jobs because you want political appointment or get a certain position.

I and Malam Nuruddeen were teachers in Sa’adu Zungur ModelSchool. We later transferred our services to Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnicwhere we are lecturing now.

Nuruddeen never dreamt of becoming a political appointee, neither did he dream of becoming commissioner so soon.

He has never developed interest in politics or getting closeto power. His greatest passion is teaching, mentoring students and da’awa beingan Ustaz.

Though he supported Governor Bala Mohammad passionately, hedid that not to be noticed or rewarded but as citizen who wishes his state goodgovernance.

This should teach us that, for us to prosper and attainhigher levels, we should just face our jobs, businesses and occupations withcommitment and fear of Allah.

We should respect all and be humble!
