Army Donates 3,000 Books to Borno Communities in Peacebuilding Effort

The Commander of the 5 Brigade, Brigadier General Mutiu Abiola Oloyede, has donated 3,000 exercise books to three Local Government Areas in Borno State—Mobbar, Gubio, and Magumeri.

According to Zagazola, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert familiar with the trends in Lake Chad, the gesture was part of the Nigerian Army’s non-kinetic approach to counterinsurgency and in line with efforts to foster peaceful reintegration of conflict-affected communities.

The commander also reassured the residents of the Army’s unwavering commitment to restoring stability in the region. He pledged to continue deploying knowledgeable soldiers as teaching staff to assist schools and to provide further incentives to encourage school attendance.

Speaking on behalf of the three local government chairmen, Hon. Mali Bulama Gubio expressed gratitude for the donation, commending Brigadier General Oloyede and the Nigerian Army for their dedication to community development, adding that the initiative would strengthen public trust in the Army.

In his remarks, Hon. Usman Lawan Moruma, who represents Mobbar LGA in the House of Assembly, praised the army leadership for their ongoing humanitarian efforts in the Northeast.
