ASHH Foundation to train police, others to curb SGBV

A Non-Governmental organization, Attah Sisters Helping Hands (ASHH) Foundation said it will engage the Police, judiciary and Civil Society Organizations to help fight Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Bauchi state.

According to the foundation, the move is in line with its quest to curtail the menace of Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV), by bridgingvthe gaps between the law enforcement agencies, among others.

The Executive Director of the organization, Mrs Comfort Attah who gave the hint in Bauchi said that the proposed training is aimed at improvement in addressing issues relating to SGBV.

According to her, the proposal was made during her organization’s advocacy visit to the commissioner of police in Bauchi state.

She said that the police commissioner had while responding, promised to support the initiative of conducting the training to achieved the overall goals by collaborating with her foundation.

Attah said, following her foundation’s previous advocacy visit, the CP promised to make available a female police officer to represent the Police in the fight against SGBV.

“The commissioner of police did not only made the provision for one female police officer but he added the second one to ensure proper intervention and support in the fight against SGBV in Bauchi State”, she said.
