This is contained in a statement signed by the ATBUTH’s public relations officer, Usman Abdullahi Koli and sent to WikkiTimes on Friday.

According to the statement, the CMD, while speaking at the end-of-year event to honor staff exemplary contributions in 2024, noted that the hospital is actively exploring solutions such as renewable energy sources, accelerating infrastructure projects, and expanding community outreach initiatives.

He said ATBUTH has recorded notable accomplishments in 2024 which included the successful implementation of e-health software, for better healthcare delivery; the establishment of a responsive ambulance service for emergencies; the introduction of home-based geriatric care for elderly patients; and the provision of free cesarean surgeries aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality.

“The hospital also made strides in infrastructure development, with ongoing expansions at the ATBU Gubi Campus, and secured a capacity-building grant from the Medical Research Council of Gambia at the London School of Hygiene for Vaccine Clinical Trials, representing a major achievement in medical research, the statement read in part.

Prof. Jibrin seized the opportunity to call upon the hospital community to reaffirm its commitment to the philosophy that “ATBUTH’s journey is forward, not backward.”

He emphasized that this vision requires collective effort, support, and a united belief in progress. “Let no one say it cannot be done; rather, let us demonstrate that together, we can and will achieve our goals,” he articulated.

The CMD also noted that the hospital administration is dedicated to staff welfare and acknowledges individuals who have shown remarkable commitment to their roles.

“As part of the celebratory activities, 120 staff members from various levels—including management team members, department heads, managers, and union leaders—were recognized with commendation letters for their outstanding service,” the statement added.
