BAHA Crisis and the real enemies of Bauchi State

“Our first enemy as a state and as a people is our former governor who is still in pain and shock over his unceremonious exit because of his poor performance” writes Isyaka Laminu Badamasi

The recent settlement of the Bauchi state house of assembly leadership tussles last Friday come to many of us as a soothing relief to an already tense situation the crisis brought to the state. You may recall that the flame of the fracas was put up when the warring Kawuwa Damina led members present themselves to the New speaker for swearing in, that brings an end to the crisis and the new purported directives of the national assembly, that the state governor senator Bala A Mohammed should reissue another proclamation for a fresh inauguration of the assembly and election of the house leadership.

To the chagrin of many of us, the former governor in connivance with the National and state chairmen of the APC and in full support and collaboration of some disgruntled individuals from the state and at the Presidency, facilitates a dubious courtesy call to Mr president with only eight out of the 17 members of the assembly who were recently sworn in, claiming that they rush to the President to use all within his power to make sure that the directives of the national Assemble was honoured; where the President was reported to have said that he will make sure that the matter will be seriously dealt with when he inaugurated his executive council in collaboration with the minister of justice and inspector general of police in accordance with the law of the land.

To the greatest surprise and dismay to all the discerning minds, the President instead of finding out what happened after the last week’s reconciliation and truce that led to their swearing in that led to this purported visit, went ahead and assured them that he will be fully involved in the matter. The President also refused to ask why only eight of the earlier seventeen are part of the delegation. The action of Mr President confirmed to us that he was truly fed up with lies, deceit with regards to the happenings in the country.

The reconciliation restore hope and confidence to all of us, as the governor had already hit the ground running by flagging off numerous developmental projects like roads, water supply and environmental sanitation etc. Our first enemy as a state and as people is our former governor who is still in pain and shock over his unceremonious exit because of his poor performance, accusations of theft of public treasury. The Ex-governor wanted to use every available opportunity to bring down the government of Senator Bala A Mohammed. This same former governor was accused of siphoning more than one billion Naira in the name of burial in only five months; just as he’s the same person that awarded a contract of only two and the half kilometers road at the cost of more than two billion Naira.

The same person that instead of putting developmental projects in the state, decided to use the duo of intruders from Gombe and Kano and enriched themselves with our meager resources among others. This same failed former governor who refused to employ a single person and the payment of pension and gratuities through out his poor four years that led to the death of many pensioners, is the one using the office of the President in order to bring hiccups for the new administration and distract it from facing the real business of governance for his selfish political interests, since he realised the new governor is here to work for the best interests of the electorates and the development of the state.

Another suspicious enemies of the state are the National and state chairmen of the All Progressive Congress, the APC, Mr Adams Oshomole and Uba Ahmad Nana. These same people that failed to conduct a free and fair party congresses at all levels and the party primaries that led to the party’s poor outings in the last general elections are also part of the entourage to the President for this comic visit. Another sets of our enemies are those National Assembly members from the state, who are in full support of the former failed governor to bring back the crisis to the assembly, most especially the member representing Shira/Giade federal constituency Hon Kani Faggo who has earlier brought the matter to the attention of his colleagues and those hypocritical people within the presidency who are not happy of the parties Waterloo in the state.

The last sets of our enemies are those political commentators who disguise as neutralists and hide behind the freedom of expression to make inflammatory and suspicious commentaries with regards to the issue at stake.

All these permutations of the former failed governor in collaboration with the above listed personalities are geareds to distract the attention of the new administration’s committee of recovery of public properties and treasury, which MA Abubakar and his cronies have many skeletons in their cupboards and for sure, they will not run away from the wrath of the law.

At the end,we are waiting to see whether the President will match his words and actions by following due process in handling of the already settled crisis and for the new governor to use his power to make sure that the crisis will never come to limelight.
