The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Abubakar Y Sulaiman could not hold back trickling tears in a valedictory session held by the assembly in honour of its slain member, Hon. Musa Mante Baraza who was gruesomely murdered by gunmen.
The Speaker became so emotional that he couldn’t continue the conversation, as he battles to preside over the plenary on Monday.
The Speaker, Abubakar Sulaiman who described Mante as a dedicated and relentless member who contributed immensely to lawmaking in the 9th assembly said, “Mante was always at the forefront of serving the interest of his people and the state at large.
“The fact that he had spent his life in his immediate community and serving his people, speaks volumes on how faithful and humble Honourable Mante was,” the speaker said in a trembling voice.
The Speaker further extols the virtues of the late lawmaker saying though he was older than them, he never denigrated any of his colleagues.
“There are so many lessons to learn from the exemplary life of Hon. Mante with regards to…,” The Speaker could not complete the point as tears trickle his face.
Members of the Assembly who took turns to eulogize the slain lawmaker who was killed in the wee hours of Thursday last week described the deceased as a true representative of his people.
The deputy Speaker, Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule said the entire house is traumatized by the gory nature of the dead of Hon. Mante.
Hon. Kawule vowed to work with relevant security agencies to fish out those behind the killing of their revered colleague.
“The House will not relent until the perpetrators account for their action as provided in the laws of the land,” the Deputy Speaker said.
WikkiTimes recalls that Hon. Mante was gunned down by unknown armed robbers who abducted his two wives and a daughter.
The whereabouts of the abductees remain cloudy as security agencies say they were working round the clock to apprehend them.
