Bala’s Wife Bags JMA’s Philantropic Education Sector Award

Jam’iyar Matan Arewa, JMA, has conferred a philanthropic award of excellence in the education sector on Hajiya Mariam Bala Abdulkadir, wife of the Governor of Bauchi State.

Hajiya Mariam Bala Mohammed received the award in an auspicious ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Bauchi on Thursday.

Hajiya Rabi Musa Sulawa, National President of JMA, commended the effort of Hajiya Mariam Bala Mohammed for being outspoken and “a true representative of the women folk in the state.”

She recalled that the wife of the Governor, reeling from her sound educational background, has done excellently well at promoting girl child education in Bauchi State through her office.

Hajiya Sulawa maintained that Hajiya Mariam remains a good epitome of education for young girls in Bauchi State and Northeast as a region in general.

The president said JMA has supported the cause of Northern Women in the areas of education, maternal Health, social welfare, among others since 1963 when the association was formed.

She maintain that the organization is a non political platform which embraces all women of Northern region’s extraction without prejudice to their tribal, religious or affluence parities.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Hon Abdurrazak Nuhu Zaki, commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, thanked the organizers for recognizing their modest contributions promising to continue to do more.

He said that the participation of women in politics will cause greater investments in education, health, good policymaking, and other aspects.

Nuhu Zaki said that the present administration in the state is doing everything possible to ensure that women are given fear representation, promising to support.

The awardees are the wife of the Bauchi State Governor Hajiya Mariam Bala Mohammed; Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman; Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Alhaji Sabi’u Baba; Chief of Staff Government House, Dr. Ladan Salihu and Hajiya Hadiza Muhammad Abubakar former Bauchi State First Lady Bauchi State.

Others are Alhaji Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs; Hajiya Rukayya Ibrahim Kewa and Hassana Arkila Tawus chairperson BASOVCA.
