The Katsina State government has banned movement of motorcycles and tricycles during night hours in 19 local government areas of the state.
This, the government said was necessitated in order to enhance security across the affected areas considering the incessant attacks by bandits which usually used motorcycles to carry out their activities.
The Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu’azu, who made this known in a statement over the weekend said the ban was from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily.
According to him, the order affects local government areas fully affected by banditry and other related crimes.
“The order affects LGs fully affected by banditry and other related crimes,” said Mu’azu.
The statement listed Sabuwa, Dandume, Funtua, Faskari, Bakori, Kankara, Danja, Kafur, Malumfashi, Musawa, Matazu, Danmusa, Safana, Dutsinma, Kurfi, Charanchi, Jibia, Batsari and Kankia, as affected LGA’S.
“Members of the public must understand that the purpose of the order is for the restoration of permanent peace in the affected areas,” he clarified.
