Bandits Kidnap Zamfara Gov’s Aide

Brazen bandits in the early hours of Saturday invaded the residence of Alhaji Ibrahim Ma’aji, Special Adviser on political affairs to Governor Bello Mattawale of Zamfara State, in Gusau, the state capital.

The armed bandits in their large numbers reportedly gained entrance into the political appointee’s house at Mareri area of Gusau metropolis through a fence, the victim’s son, Lukman Ibrahim told Nigerian Tribune.

Ibrahim said his father was in his apartment when gunmen besieged their compound.

“I was inside my room when I noticed that someone jumped into our compound, I immediately came out to see but I was apprehended by gunmen, they insisted that I must take them to my father’s apartment and from there, they whisked away my father to an unknown destination,” said Ibrahim.

He revealed that the incident had been reported to the police for their prompt action.

At press time, Mohammed Shehu, spokesman for Zamfara Police Command could not be reached as his official line was switched off. Also, a text sent to him had not been responded to.
