Bandits Kill Chief Imam, 2 Other Worshipers in Kaduna Mosque

Marauding gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked a mosque at the Ga Allah Babba village, in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing the chief imam of the mosque and two other worshippers.

The attack, which was carried out in the wee hours of Tuesday, also left at least two other worshippers with different degrees of injuries.

A community leader, Zubair Abdurrauf, who confirmed the development to Channels TV, said the incident happened when the Muslims were observing their morning prayers.

He said “the Chief Imam of a mosque and two other worshippers were killed. It occurred around 5 a.m. on Tuesday. two other worshippers who sustained injuries are at the Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital, Birnin-Gwari.

According to the community leader, bandits attack Birnin-Gwari almost on a daily basis, killing and abducting residents, especially farmers.

He called on the governors in the North-West states to set up a security task force that will comprise the military, police and local vigilante groups as initiated in other neighbouring states.

The Kaduna State Police Command could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
