Bandits Kill Seven, Abduct Scores in Katsina Community

On Saturday night, Mai Dabino village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State experienced a devastating attack by bandits. The assault resulted in the death of at least seven individuals.

According to sources, the bandits abducted an unspecified number of people, primarily women and children, and took them to a nearby forest.

The eyewitness reported that the attack began in the evening with the bandits operating for several hours, firing sporadically to terrify the villagers. Tragically, some of the victims were set ablaze by the attackers.

Armed with sophisticated weapons, the bandits also destroyed numerous houses, shops, and vehicles, causing significant financial losses to the residents.

One of the victims whose shop was set ablaze by the marauding bandits, Ado Gambo Maidabino wrote on his Facebook page in Hausa “Last night, gunmen attacked Maidabino community from about 7:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. They killed nine people, burned nine cars, and set four houses ablaze.

According to Gambo, the bandits also abducted over 50 people and set ablaze more than 15 shops, including his pharmaceutical drugs centre in the area.

Confirming the incident, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Spokesman for Katsina State Command, said the police are investigating the attack.

“Yesterday, June 22, 2024, at about 2000 hrs, armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, attacked Mai Dabino village, Danmusa LGA, where they shot and killed about seven (7) persons. The investigation is currently ongoing, as further developments will be communicated in due course.”
