Bandits’ Leader, Ado Aleru Declared Wanted By Police 2 Days After Bagging Chieftaincy Title in Zamfara

Zamfara State Police Command has declared wanted Ado Aleru, a bandits’ leader given chieftaincy title by emir of Yandoto emirate, Alhaji Aliyu Marafa.

The police had also placed a N5 million bounty on the terror kingpin who has killed over 100 villagers in Kastina State, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Zamfara Police Command, Gambo Isa.

Aleru was crowned as Sarkin Fulani of Yandoto by the emir of Yandoto on Saturday.

In response to this, the Zamfara State government suspended Marafa as the emir of Yandoto and further constituted a committee to investigate his intent.

The police spokesman said the wanted bandit had killed over 100 villagers in Katsina State including women and children.

According to him, Ado Aleru was among the wanted bandits on the command’s watchlist.

“We are looking for Aleru because of the acts of terrorism he committed in the town of Kadiso where he killed over 100 locals,” the spokesman said. “We were together with former Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba and journalists at Kadiso where we saw how he killed people including women and children, as well as destroying food items and animals.”

He added: “This prompted the Katsina Police Command to issue a statement that whosoever apprehends Aleru, either dead or alive, would be given N5 million.

“This matter still stands. We are looking for him and anyone who sees him should report to us. We are charging him for committing acts of terrorism in Kadiso, and in other communities also. He had also kidnapped people and collected ransom.”
