Bandits Massacre 18 Farmers In Zamfara Villages

No fewer than 18 farmers were murdered while scores of residents went missing in separate attacks by gunmen terrorising Zamfara villages.

The incident, WikkiTimes gathered, occurred on Sunday in Kango and Dangulbi villages of Maru local council of the state.

A resident of Dangulbi, Shehu Ismaila, said 13 persons were killed in Dangulbi while five persons were shot dead in Kango.

He narrated that the marauding gunmen raided Kango villagers before proceeding to Dangulbi to kill farmers working on their farms.

“Six residents living outside the community were killed and the other seven were killed inside the town,” he said. “The victims were farmers who went to do minor work on the farm before continuing with their Sallah celebration.”

The deceased burials were delayed to evening time due to fleeing residents, WikkiTimes learnt.

Another source, Yusuf Abdullahi, a resident of Dansadau narrated that his sister nearly got trapped in the attack during her Sallah visit to her aunt in Dangulbi area.

“She has phoned us that she is fine but one of their neighbours was shot. Several residents are still missing during the raid,” said Abdullahi.

He said that scores of missing residents are hiding in the bushy area and may soon return.

Some victims were identified as Lawali Yusuf, Basiru Bakwai, Murtala, Ashiru Suleman, Dayyabu Adamu, Sufiyanu Sani, and Kamalu Sani, among others.

However, On 7 June, about 41 farmers were massacred in Tofa and Samawa villages of Bungudu in Zamfara.

Also, on May 22, bandits killed 8 farmers in Damaga village of Maradun area in the state.
