Bandits have dismantled the police and vigilante operatives in Kambari village of Karim Lamido local government area of Taraba State.
News report indicates that the bandits have employed the services of young boys from the community, acting as errands for them. They continue to kidnap wealthy individuals in neighbouring communities at will without any resistance.
A resident of the town who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the bandits have now turned Kambari into their operational base.
He said that the villagers have since relocated to Mutumbiyu town and other places for the safety of their lives.
To him, the bandits numbering over 200, are from the troubled Zamfara and Katsina States.
“There is no presence of police and vigilante in Kambari, terrorists are in total control of the town and they move freely with their arms.
“We are under siege; we need the government to intervene by sending soldiers to chase out the terrorists because they are regrouping every day and also recruiting our young men,” he said.
He said the bandits forcefully slept with wives and young girls.
DSP Usman Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer Taraba State Command denied any form of police dislodgement in any part of the state.
“If it is true that terrorists have taken over Kambari town or any other village, why didn’t residents inform the police?” he said.
