Baba Gamawa lamented that youth from neighbouring states filled major towns and cities of Bauchi State running the illegal business of Okada, adding that government will not allow people to continue violating the law made in the best interest of the state.

He insisted that the ban Bauchi State Government placed on operations and activities of Okada riders in the state is still in force, hence anyone found wanting will be dealt with within the ambit of relevant extant laws of the state.

Albarka Radio reports that the BAROTA boss prevailed on citizens of the state to avoid patronising the services of Okada riders ‘claiming that most of them are criminals.’

It will be recalled that during the wake of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in a statewide broadcast placed a ban on the activities of Okada riders in the state.

The governor argued that Okada riders posed “a serious threat to security” of the state. He said that it is illogical for Bauchi State to allow Okada riders to continue operating in the state after other states in the country had banned their operations.
