BASEPA Plants 100 Trees in Bauchi

Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, BASEPA with support from civil society organisations have planted over 100 seedlings of trees along Yakubun Bauchi road in commemoration of this year’s World Environment Day.

The Director General of BASEPA, Dr. Ibrahim Kabir said the exercise will bring more benefits to the community and those inhabiting it.

He said the Agency is willing to supply trees seedling to people who are ready to nurture the seedlings into a tree that can add value to the environment.

The Director-General said that government will provide basic amenities to communities that grow seventy percent of the trees planted in the area.

The Ward Head of Yakubun Bauchi, Abdullahi Yusuf Limanci commended the Bauchi State Government, BASEPA and other sister Agencies for the efforts put in place to protect the environment and the State from any environmental hazard.

Each seedling planted will be taken care of by either the government personnel present, a member of one of the civil society organizations present or a member of the area up to the maturity level.

WikkiTimes recalled that the environmental mobile court of the agency sentenced three persons to three months imprisonment for destroying trees planted along Sam Njoma road.
