The organized Labour in Bauchi State has warnedthe state government against its plans to transfer the supervision of the
Orphans and vulnerable Children Agency BASOVCA to the Ministry of Women Affairsand Child Development.Speaking to newsmen on the plan, the State Chairman Trade Union Congress TUC Comrade Mohammad Usman said the decision was against the law that established the agency.
Comrade Mohammad Usman said the agency is being funded from one percent deductions from workers salaries and two percent from political office holders earnings to cater for the needs of orphans and the vulnerable children.
He said changing the status would leave the organized Labour with no other option than to withdraw its members from funding the agency.
The State TUC Chairman advised the state government to always respect peoples’ opinion in taking decision to avoid tension.
Comrade Mohammad Usman claimed that it was against the law for workers to fund government’s ministry, department or agency, hence BASOVCA was an independent entity  entrusted under a chairman and board members.
